Costa Rica Soul Retreat

FAQS

Travel Logistics

  • It is recommended to fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO), located 12 miles west of downtown San Jose, which is approximately three hours from Danyasa.

  • Please plan to arrive at SJO by 2pm on 1/13 to catch the 2pm Group Shuttle to Danyasa.

  • Danyasa recommends the Mango Hotel and the Adventure Inn - both just minutes from the airport, have a pool, and onsite restaurant. It's a good price for just having to over night and clean and safe.

There are MANY options around the airport however depending on what you are looking for and the budget. booking.com is a great app to use for this to narrow down some options.

  • Private shuttles from San Jose airport or the city cost $175 and take about 3 hours. Danyasa will be happy to assist you in booking a private shuttle. Contact info@danyasa.com.

If renting a car, you can follow the directions on Danyasa’s website. Allow 3 hours to arrive in Dominical from the airport in San Jose. Theydo highly recommend renting a GPS with your vehicle, as most streets in Costa Rica do not have signs or even names! Danyasa is located on the main street in Dominical, across from the public school. Look for the Danyasa Eco-Retreat sign on the right-hand side heading towards the beach. If the boutique is closed, there is an intercom on the sign post.

And lastly, public buses can take you from downtown San Jose to Danyasa. The buses leave from the TRACOPA bus terminal https://www.tracopacr.com/. You will have to buy a ticket to Uvita, but you can get off at Dominical. There are two direct buses each day. Each bus stops briefly at Orotina and Quepos before arriving at Dominical. The buses leave at 6am and 3pm and take about 5 hours to get to Dominical.

  • A valid passport is required for entry into Costa Rica. Check your passport expiration date!

Currently there are no other travel restrictions in place for travel from the United States.

This, of course, is subject to change so be sure to check Travel.state.gov prior to travel.

  • Costa Rica is considered one of the best and safest places for a solo traveler to visit. Although petty theft can happen and one should always be smart about leaving values unattended, violence is very rare.

Danyasa hosts many solo travelers. Rest assured you will be well cared for here and there is a good chance you will make new friends here if you want to.
